Roof
Replacement Vs. Repair

Are you unsure if your roof needs a replacement or just a repair? It can be challenging to determine without the expertise of a roofing professional. Here are some key indicators that can help you make an informed decision.

Shingle Replacement

Replacement

Age of the Roof: If your roof is approaching the 15-25 year mark, it's important to take a closer look and consider replacement

Light in your Attic: Check for larger water stains and significant light coming through, it may be time to invest in a new roof.

Curling Shingles: If Shingles throughout your roof are Curling at the edges or buckling in the middle chances are you will need to replace you roof. Common causes are poor ventilation, multiple layers, improper installation, misalignment, and normal wear and tear. Regardless the cause, it should be addressed sooner than later.

Granule Loss: If you are noticing excessive granule loss on your shingles and your roof is older you should start thinking about a replacement as the granules are designed to protect your roof.

Cracked or Missing Shingles: If your roof covered in cracked or missing shingles, rather than just a few isolated spots than it is time for a replacement.

Got Moss or Algae: If your roof covered in algae and has been for a long period of time, you should consider a replacement. With a covered roof, chances are the moss/algae has gotten under the shingles causing a damp surface for a long period of time which can lead to leaks and mold. Most shingles are now moss/algae resistant.

Shingle Repair

Repair

Age of the Roof: If your roof is only a few years old, you more than likely can just repair your troubled areas.

Light in your Attic: Some light may be normal. For example, gable, soffit and ridge vents all let a small amount of light in while they do the job of circulating air in your attic. If it’s a small amount of light, look for water stains and see if they change over time.

Curling Shingles: If only a few shingles are curling or buckling they can be replaced with caution. South facing shingles may curl faster than other sides due to the increase in UV rays. But most of the time there are underlying issues causing them to curl which will eventually need attention.

Granule Loss: If you are noticing granule loss on your shingles and your roof is new, this is normal as it is part of a new roof installation and will improve.

Cracked or Missing Shingles: If your damage is isolated or spiritic, a repair is likely.

Got Moss or Algae: If you have moss/algae in a few areas of your roof or that is just beginning we have the options. We can clean these areas and apply resistant materials to help prevent further/faster growth. Be mindful not to do this yourself as professionals, like ourselves know how to do this without causing additional damage.
